Vote now for your favorite Enterprise Octopus
Last Thursday I posted about a quick contest to win a free registration for Enterprise 2.0, which is next week in Boston. I received four submissions but only three of them qualify since one was a joke from Bill Lynch, one of Jive’s co-founders. I’d add my own commentary but I’ll save that for the very end. I’d hate to skew any results. Needless to say, I wasn’t sure what to expect or if anyone would actually take the time to participate and I’m really impressed with all three.
It’s up to you who gets the free pass
Vote now! If you’re reading this, all you have to do it submit a comment and let me know who you think should win. I’ll just add up the comments and announce the winner on this same post. Voting will close this Wednesday at 10pm PST.
#1 David O’Flynn (drawn by Jason Taylor)
#2 Jane Pyle
#3 Mark Soper
#4 Bill Lynch (disqualified)

Update:
Although Jane got the most votes, she contacted me today and let me know that she is unable to attend so David O’Flynn gets the pass. A huge thanks to David/Jason, Jane and Mark for their very creative work and for participating (along with all of you).

Things people have said about this post
I’d have gone for Bill’s drawing, but since he’s disqualified, my vote is for Mark Soper.
But if there’s no overwhelming winner by Wednesday night, I won’t object if you just give the pass to me. I’m in Boston, too!
I vote for Jane Pyle. Have fun at the conference Jane!!
Jane!
I vote for Jane.
Jane++
Jane
I would have voted for the David/Jason entry if they’d worked in the red top of the octopus.
As it is, I think I’m going to have to vote for Jane Pyle.
I like the concept of Mark’s but I don’t believe peace is possible. It can only end in blood… ok, that may be too extreme. But bridging the gap will be difficult to say the least.
And, of course, honorary mention to Bill. He’s got the most authentic drawing. (Low production values = authentic right?)
DQ’d? Wait, my 2 minute MS Paint drawing didn’t earn me a seat at the finalists table?
Here’s why Bill’s entry is the best. It succinctly conveys the naivety of most businesses around E2.0.
#1 fo sho… this is hardly a contest.
I vote for Jane! Bill’s Entry reminds me of Meatwad from Aquateen Hungerforce for some reason… http://benmark.be/thumb_meatwad.jpg

Wow! Those are great. I really love the technical prowess in David’s and the humor in Jane’s. Nicely done.
I vote for Jane Pyle, although all 4 are very good.
my son Max votes for #1 and I vote for #3 - love that flat stanley
I’d have to say Jane! I have a box of band-aids here if you need them. Great job.
I vote for Jane!
Have to go with #2 Jane… great Day In The Life Of!
Haha! I love Paula’s comment
I vote for David O’Flynn because he’s from Atlassian and it’s bad ass that a competitor entered and did a stellar job. Jane’s is totally funny, though!
#4!! #4!! Bill’s is awesome!
Wait, #1 is from someone at Atlassian? Give it to the Irish Australian then… #1 it is. Although, it seems his octopus has 9 legs. Isn’t that a ninth leg tucked away to the left? Is he compensating for you octopus’ lack of legs?

I have to support the Aussies, so my vote goes to David O’Flynn. Go Aussie!
Is it just me, or did anyone else notice the Atlassian logo in David O’Flynn’s entry…
^ Good catch Dan. I vote for David, #1 certainly.

[…] The Enterprise Octopus turns things right-side up. It introduces a geographic head to the Enterprise and it’s in the head where all the improvement occurs. First and foremost, note that it’s a mix of all stakeholders occupying the head. That includes employees, partners, and customers. They’re all in there. They can see each other. Connect to each other. Work with each other. And since the “new me” has a radar for a head, I know how and where to focus my attention with any of these people. The head is where the real future IP is (both the “me” head and the Octopus head). It may be hard to think of this in future-terms now, but I can imagine all sorts of new innovation in the head. […]
